Bold Reforms for a Post-Pandemic Oklahoma

A report from the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs lays out an ambitious agenda for strengthening the state's economy and expanding individual freedom in the aftermath of COVID-19. Published in 2022, it focuses on three major areas of reform: education, taxes and regulation.

The report calls for universal education savings accounts that give parents more control over their children's education, eliminating the state income tax and replacing its revenue through sales tax reforms, and overhauling Oklahoma's regulatory system. Its economic modeling projects that eliminating the income tax could increase state GDP by nearly 3% and eventually support more than 100,000 jobs.

The report offers a roadmap for states looking to turn economic disruption into an opportunity for lasting reform. By empowering families, reducing taxes on work and investment, and removing unnecessary regulations, policymakers can encourage entrepreneurship, economic growth and greater individual opportunity.
